Look Development
I render out two version of the butter, one has part of the butter slide down, and one has partially butter melt.

For the texture, I have used the point wrangle node to make the color gradually change from yellow to transparent. I found out that the basicliquid cannot recognize the color overwrite, so I use the material X inside Karma.

I rename the alpha to bob, then put it into MTLX USD Primvar Reader, so the material X will recognize the color and alpha.

I use one spot light as the main light source, one spot light as fill light and one area light as the back light. I add some color to the second spot light to make the scene more orange. Then I turn the camera up a little and increase the primary sample up to 500 in order to get rid of noise.
Final Result
I rendered out two versions of the melting butter: in one, some butter remains on the corn, and in the other, part of the butter slides down to the ground.
